DENTAL IMPRESSION TAKING COURSE
Our Dental Impression Taking Course is a very practical program, which will take students half a day to complete. GDC (General Dental Council) registered Dentists will be able to improve and expand their dental ability. At the end of this course, learners will be formally assessed, and those who are successful will be issued with a CPD certificate on the same day for achieving the aims and objectives of the course.
Students who participate in this programme will be given a PEP (Practical Experience Portfolio) where they will keep track of their activities, which should include a range of supervised activities and experiences on different clients. Feedback should be given by a suitably qualified, registered professional, in order for any work to be valid. Students will have 3 months to fill out the portfolio and once it has been completed and assessed, the certification can officially be issued.

If you’re looking to expand your dental knowledge by learning all about Impression Takings, then this is the course for you, you are only a few steps away from learning all about preparing, taking and storing impressions in just a half a day course.
All we require from you is confirmation that you currently hold a GDC (General Dental Council) Certificate, We also require all of our students who take this course to currently be employed as a Dental Nurse. Our students are required to understand how to receive consent from their clients and recognise why this is important before participating in any dental procedures.
Understanding the significance of updating a patient’s record is also extremely important, so therefore we expect our students to be able to read and keep track of data efficiently. In addition to this understanding, all the health and safety regulations behind the dental practice are extremely important.
We expect our students to be able to recognise these regulations and put them to work while performing different practices. A massive part of dental practice comes through communication with clients, we find it very important that our customers can communicate effectively with clients and cater to their expectations.
Here at Dental Arch we also ensure that our students will know how to recognise good and bad qualities when regarding the materials used to take dental impressions, and therefore know how to select and use the correct equipment based on factors such as mouth shape and size.
Our Dentists will also need to know how to make sure the client’s mouth is prepared properly ahead of their impression and should be able to safely and attentively mix the impression taking material together and load into the impression tray itself.
Students should then be able to confidently perform impressions on a range of different customers and be able to inspect and identify any faults that have occurred throughout the process or within the results. Finally, it is important that our students can safely decontaminate and store impressions ahead of any further assessment.

A Dental Impression is a mould taken from a patient’s mouth in order to study the growth and alignment of their teeth.
Dentists will apply a mixture to an impression tray and place it in a patient’s mouth until it solidifies (1-2 minutes.) They will then remove the tray and have an accurate impression of their patient’s teeth, which can be used to help fit things like braces and retainers.
Yes, as long as you are registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) you are permitted to take Dental Impressions.
It is also required that you are trained in the practise and fully competent in doing so, it is never a good idea to take a Dental Impression unless you are completely confident and trained.
Dental Impressions are a great practice and can assist Dentists in many ways. They are used to create a replica mould of your patient’s teeth.
This mould can then be used to help the dentist when anything needs to be fitted to the patients teeth. This can range from Dentures to Braces and Retainers.
Dental Impressions do not take long at all. Once the tray is in the patient’s mouth, it will only need to stay there for around 1-2 minutes while it sets and creates a mould of the patient’s teeth.
While taking your impression prepare to breathe through your nose for a few minutes while the mould is setting in your mouth.
