They are more likely to apply fluoride to your teeth if you are at risk of cavities, as fluoride is excellent at preventing decay and strengthening your teeth’ enamel. Fluoride can actually reverse early signs of decay and make your teeth more resistant to acid.

If you are having fluoride applied by your dentist they are likely to apply your fluoride by using a mouth-guard-like mould.

The fluoride can be placed in the mould and then applied to the teeth for a few minutes. The mouth should be as dry as possible and the patient should not rinse their mouth, or eat and drink, for at least 30 minutes after the application.

Fluoride is not harmful to adults but can leave children with mild dental fluorosis, which can give them small speaks and streaks on their still-growing teeth.

This dental fluorosis could potentially develop into skeletal fluorosis which can cause pain in the bones and joints. However, in short, fluoride is not dangerous to adults and is very beneficial for your teeth.

Yes. as long as you are over the age of 6, you are very unlikely to suffer any of the side effects Flouride has on growing teeth.
