NEBDN Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing (RQF) - Tutor lead virtual - online course
The National Examining Board for Dental Nurses Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing (RQF) is a nationally recognised qualification designed for individuals looking to begin a professional career in dental nursing.

Assessment Overview
To successfully achieve the qualification, learners must complete all components set by National Examining Board for Dental Nurses.
Assessment Methods Include:
- Portfolio of Evidence (PoE)

A multiple-choice examination assessing theoretical understanding - Professional Discussion

Portfolio of Evidence (PoE)
The Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) is a key part of the qualification and demonstrates your ability to perform safely and competently in a real dental setting.
What the PoE Involves
- Recording your experience across a range of clinical procedures
- Evidence of assisting in patient care
- Reflective accounts of your learning
- Workplace observations signed by a qualified GDC registrant
Important Notes
- The PoE must be completed over time as you gain experience
- It cannot be completed in a short or intensive period
- Regular reviews ensure your progress meets NEBDN standards

- Typical course duration: 12–18 months
- Minimum time required to complete the PoE: 6 months
- Total Qualification Time: approximately 457 hours

Introduction to Dental Nursing (Course)
Our Introduction to Dental Nursing course is for those who are unsure if a nursing career is the right choice.
In this short, half-day course, you will learn all the basics regarding a nursing career, including knowledge about instruments, health and safety regulations, and basic anatomy.
Each one of our qualified tutors will be able to answer any questions you may have about this career path. They will foster a supportive learning environment, equipping you with the knowledge and confidence you need to get started.
Note: You cannot start working as a Dental Hygienist following the completion of this course. A National Diploma in Dental Nursing and GDC registration are legally required.
We recommend our Introduction to Dental Nursing course to all those who are:
- Enrolled in a dental nurses training course that has not yet begun, and would like an appropriate induction to dental nursing
- Considering a career in dental nursing, and would like a better understanding of what the job involves
